The band Aguamala was created in 2004 in the city of Playa del Carmen, México, from then becomes the hosting band of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, located in the same city.
In 2006 the band unveils its first CD entitled “Aguamala en vivo” in this production has a featuring with Eugenio Toussaint, Diego Maroto, Natalia Lafourcade and Sabo Romo.
-In 2008- Aguamala recorded its first studio album entitled “UTS” with the collaboration Eugenio Toussaint.
-2009- The album “13:20” Aguamala recorded their 2nd studio album & two months later they recorded the live album version “13:20 live”.
Into the 10th edition of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival (2013), the band recorded the new album called “MUTUO”. With special guest Diego Maroto. The same year the band became to Aguamala TRIO.
2014 the year of their fifth production as a trio, recorded and mixed in México City; regarded by many national and international critics as one of the best productions of the band.
Since its inception the band has shared the stage with international artists such as Marcus Miller, Earth Wind and Fire, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Screaming Headless Torsos, Héctor Infanzon, Sacbe, Eugenia León, Gino Vannelli, Enrique Nery, Diego Maroto, Mark Aanderud, Ivan Lins, Hiram Gómez, Iraida Noriega, Mint Condition, Mike Stern, Cecilia Toussaint, Tom Coster, John Mclaughlin, The Manhattan Transfer, Tower of Power, Al Di Meola, David Sanborn , Incognito, among others.
Currently, Aguamala Trio, prepares its new production, having restructured musically with a new member (Adan García Briones) -electric guitar-; This new album promises new roads and guests to give a great impression to all the followers. (considered by the mexican press as a cult band, with a progressive – classic jazz by some mexican media europeans).
