Banda que rinde tributo a la memoria de Fernando Toussaint (Músico, compositor, escritor, melómano, productor musical y director artístico del Riviera Maya Jazz Festival 2004-2017); Grupo liderado por Cecilia Toussaint (Compositora, Cantante, Locutora y Actríz), en su haber cuenta con 11 álbumes de estudio más otros tantos en participaciones y grabaciones en vivo. Ha participado en telenovelas y películas como “Dama de Noche” (1993), “Frida, naturaleza viva” (1983) entre muchas otras. En este homenaje, se tocarán piezas compuestas por Fernando Toussaint y los arreglos correrán a cargo de Cecilia, se contará con invitados sorpresa.
Señor Vitalis was founded in 2016, however, its members have worked together for 14 years on different projects in which they have coincided, such as Aguamala, Chivo Azul, BBMamut and Ramash; the project Señor Vitalis bets on Groove and Funk, currently working on the production of their first EP.
Bernardo Ron: Guitarist, he has been part of Aguamala, Saul Hernandez, Chivo Azul and founder of BBMamut.
Luis Ernesto Lopez: He has been a Bassist in Aguamala, Blue Goat, Zenzaje and DeBombeo.
Zoar Miranda: He has been a drummer for Chivo Azul, Midnight Calacas, Ramash and BBMamut.
In the mid-70s, the musician and drummer Fernando Toussaint matchless, the band “Palmera”. Various musicians in the interpretation of songs by Toussaint himself, stories like Gerardo Batiz on guitar, and Diego Herrera, from “Caifanes”, on keyboards; in addition to other musicians belonging to the sphere of rock and jazz. In 1985, Toussaint invited keyboardist Leonardo Sandoval to join the band. From that moment, the group is known as the “Nuevo Palmera”. The compositions that interpret the recent conformation of the band happen to be as much of Tousssaint as of Sandoval. In 1986, they make a three-month tour of the state of Baja California. Thanks to the concern of Leonardo Sandoval to improve the concept and sound of the band, in 1989 Fernando and Leonardo decided to make radical changes in the integration of the band. With this objective, they invite the prestigious bassist Hiram Gómez and the excellent saxophonist Alejandro Campos to join “Palmera”. From that moment, the band is integrated by Fernando Toussaint himself on drums, Leonardo Sandoval on keyboards, Hiram Gómez on bass, Paco Rosas on guitar and Alejandro Campos on saxophone. With the sound and the rock concept of Rosas, the be-bop style of Campos, the funk concept and the sound -revolutionary and innovative for the time- of Gómez, the harmonic concept of Sandoval and the musicality of the drummer of Toussaint, the band it acquired a distinctive stamp, a unique sound, in which the precision in the interpretations stand out, as well as the good taste and the originality of the compositions. From 1989 to 1993, the band performs every weekend with resounding success in the renowned jazz venue Arcano, in the CDMX. In 1992, they record their first and only record production titled “Decisions”, under the signature of the label Coyoacán Records, by producer Luigi Lazareño. From the beginning, the band participates in international jazz festivals, and continues to do so until 1999, year in which it disintegrates when Hiram and Fernando decide to settle in Cancún and the Riviera Maya, respectively. However, in 2003 they have a reunion as a band for the first Riviera Maya Jazz Festival -where they shared the stage with George Duke-. Fernando Toussaint was a producer from that year until his death in 2017.
On this occasion, the band is reunited as a part of In memoriam show to Fernando Toussaint, sharing stage with Señor Vitalis, Cecilia Toussaint among others… The musicians of “Palmera” will be Leonardo Sandoval on keyboards, Hiram Gómez on bass, Paco Rosas on guitar and Alejandro Campos on saxophone. The guest drummer will be Rodrigo “Zurdo” Ortega.
